Found in Norfolk, you will find the town of Fakenham, located on River Wensum. It's a very small location with only a bit over 7,000 in the year 2001. But that's a nice leap up from back in 1086 when only 150 resided in the area.
Up to the year of 1970 the major industry in Fakenham was printing. However at that time the Cox and Wyman presses closed their doors. There are other smaller locations in town, but this was the largest of the printing companies in town.
A claim to fame of the town is that it was placed as the "most boring place on Earth". Back during the 90s in a book called knowhere guide. But you'll be glad to know that is was talking about one day, that's Wednesday. Those afternoons, Fakenham closes down early, so it's not really the most boring place.
Every month on the fourth Saturday you can visit the farmers market, and enjoy that the town is renovating too.
Home of the first independent radio station, though it has closed down now also. Up until 1959 there were two railway stations in Fakenham, but one has become a builder's depot, and the other housing. With many different locations you can visit in Fakenham, you can attend a flea market, check out the national hunt racecourse, or go bowling. Don't forget about the farmers market too on that fourth Saturday of the month. Also the home of Museum of Gas and Local History.
Some famous people you may have heard of before who came from Fakenham are Henry Buckenham, John Garrood, and Thomas Miller.
Though once voted incorrectly as the most boring place, it does have some fabulous things for visitors to enjoy. A smaller location where you won't run into tons of tourists, why not take a shot and visit Fakenham.
